So, it’s been raining a lot again, and Ghost Month is ending in a few days. While I’m on a break from paperwork with my afternoon tea, I’d like to share these three amazing rock songs that fit the rainy mood.
Vertical Horizon’s “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)”
“Best I Ever Had” was one of the songs that could instantly make me sad when I was young, way before I started to understand (and appreciate) any lyrics. And after all these years, it still makes me sad, especially since I could connect it to all the times I’ve been left and hurt… and that happened a lot. Plus, I’ve been listening to it as often as the rainy weather lately, which makes me feel even sadder. (But that’s okay.)
Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain”
When I was a kid, I always liked music as much as watching superheroes every weekend, but it was only in 2004 that I found my first favorite song: “November Rain” by Guns N’ Roses. It’s such a standout for me because it sounded more epic, more cinematic than their usual hard rock songs like “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” The music video made it even more depressing. Honestly, my rainy day playlist wouldn’t be complete without “November Rain.”
Led Zeppelin’s “The Rain Song”
To cap off this post, I’ll include Led Zeppelin’s saddest song (in my opinion), “The Rain Song.” When I was in a classic rock kick in college, I found this gem from their album Houses of the Holy, and it was one of the most beautifully written, gentlest songs I’ve ever heard. It never fails to move my heart every time I hear this 7-minute ballad, and it fits any rainy-mood playlist, including mine. If I could recommend any Zeppelin song to anyone, it’s this one.
