Post 62: 3 Songs from My Daily Playlist (Part 1)

Sharing three of my favorite rock songs from the playlist I listen every single day.

My laptop charger’s not working. So, in the meantime, I’m blogging on mobile while looking for a new charger.

Anyway, let me share three songs from my daily playlist!

Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality”

“Cult of Personality” is one of the greatest rock songs ever written, and it’s still politically and socially relevant today (maybe even more than ever). It’s also the theme song of my current top favorite pro wrestler and current Undisputed WWE Champion, CM Punk. (I’m really glad he’s one of the top guys of the company. He deserves it!)

If you catch me listening to this song, I may be feeling happier than usual. Strange, I know, but that’s my thing.

Queen’s “Princes of the Universe”

When I started appreciating the rock awesomeness that is Queen by digging deep into their discography, one of the best songs I heard from them felt way familiar: “Princes of the Universe.” It turned out to be the theme song of a show I’d seen when I was young, Highlander: The Series. Because of that, I checked out the first movie, and then the series, and I started appreciating them, too, mostly because I’m fascinated by swords and swordfighting.

(I haven’t seen the other films, and I was warned some of them are really bad, so I’m not going to bother. For now.)

Foo Fighters’ “Walk”

Actually, “Walk”, one of my top three favorite Foo Fighters songs, has a line that became my simple, personal prayer: to keep alive, a moment at a time. And honestly, before this month started, I’ve been really, really, really trying to keep alive, man. But here I am.

I think it helped that I persisted even if I felt heavy, and I listened to “Walk” and “The Pretender” more than usual. Because of the constant catharsis, holding on, and persistence, putting my personal prayer into action feels easier.

That’s it, pansit.
