Post 16: 3 Songs I’ve Been Playing on Repeat (Part 2)

Another set of three songs I’ve been listening to more recently.

Hi, everyone.

I’ve been coughing since last week. I also felt tired since last Friday after being all over the place, getting creative, doing tasks at work, among other things. I had a comforting nine-hour sleep last Sunday, so I felt better somehow, but when today started… man, I feel weak again because the heat is so unbearable. Is it the start of summer already?

Anyway, I’m here again to share three songs that I’ve been listening to more recently.

Philip Glass’s “Metamorphosis: One”

Philip Glass’s “Metamorphosis: One”

Whenever I hear this piano piece, it makes me sad instantly. One specific reason for that is that it reminds me of a very important moment from “return 0”, the final episode of my favorite show, Person of Interest. For those who haven’t seen that episode (or the show), I won’t tell what happened. Spoilers.

Sidebar: I really wish Netflix Philippines gets the license to stream POI. Honestly, the show deserves more appreciation, even though it ended in 2016. Ilan lang yung kilala kong nanood nito.

Anyway, while “Metamorphosis: One” makes me sad, it also makes me more reflective and calm. At least I wasn’t feeling just sad, right?

Bruno Mars’ “Dance with Me”

Bruno Mars’ “Dance with Me”

Bruno Mars just released his new album, The Romantic, last Friday, February 27. After hearing the new record, I thought it sounded more mellow than any of his previous albums, and that kind of sound fits the album title itself. I like it.

Of all the songs from The Romantic, the song that stuck with me the most was the last track, “Dance with Me”. It simply sounds dreamy, gooey, and, well, romantic, and Bruno Mars is great at making that kind of music. (Remember “Just the Way You Are”?) I may have listened to it more than ten times already.

May naalala rin ako sa kantang ‘to.

Foo Fighters’ “The Pretender”

Who am I kidding? “The Pretender” is not a song I’ve been listening to more recently. It’s simply my favorite song of all time. I listen to it at least once a day because I also made it one of my alarm clock sounds.

Foo Fighters’ “The Pretender”

I love this song so much because whether I’m happy, sad, or just fine, and even if I feel too weak to get up from my bed (and I was like that lately), hearing the strings/hard rock sound and the defiant lyrics of “The Pretender” never fails to give me a boost.

“What if I say I’m not like the others?”

That’s it, pansit.

What are the songs you’ve been listening to more recently?
