Post 18: 3 Songs That Sound Better With Black Coffee

These three songs can boost my energy just like my morning drink.

In recent months, black coffee (usually a UCC Class One) has been my morning drink aside from water. (Don’t forget. Water is life.) As much as I love how tasty Nescafé 3-in-1 is, it doesn’t keep me awake anymore, and going back to drinking black coffee makes me more awake and even energetic. As the quote says, “Once you go black, you never go back.” 😂

Anyway, this morning, while I was drinking my black coffee and listening to my favorite songs, I realized that some songs sound better with my morning drink. Let me list three of those.

Warning: If you drink black coffee and listen to these songs, you might end up running all over the city, or you will want to. Take it from me: I want to.

Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades”

Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades”

“Ace of Spades” is one of my top five favorite songs from Motörhead, my favorite metal band. Black coffee gives me the energy I need every morning, and so does this fast, ferocious song. It sounds so insanely fast that a friend of mine easily gave up playing it in Guitar Hero several years ago.

Foo Fighters’ “Run”

Foo Fighters’ “Run”

I always get pumped when I hear the hard, heavy rock part after the gentle intro and first chorus of “Run”, so that’s why it’s one of my alarm clock songs and the first song I hear when I go for a run. (I’d stretch and walk for a while, and then run like crazy right after the first chorus.)

Them Crooked Vultures’ “Mind Eraser, No Chaser”

Them Crooked Vultures’ “Mind Eraser, No Chaser”

I remember that during my commute to college and back home in 2010, I walked faster than usual when I heard “Mind Eraser, No Chaser”. Why? Because it sounds like a theme song for crazy chase scenes, whether the characters are running or driving. (That’s how I feel anyway.) What a rush.

Yeah, I basically listed songs from my favorite bands, and they’re all connected to Dave Grohl. Foo Fighters and Them Crooked Vultures have Dave on it, while Motörhead is one of his favorite bands. I swear, I didn’t plan it at first.

Speaking of Dave (and black coffee), have you seen the Fresh Pots video? If you haven’t, you should. It turns 16 years this March 16!

Anyway, that’s it, pansit.
