Post 4: Behind My Website’s Slogan

Why I chose the slogan, a brief lookback at my early blogging days, and my plans for this website.

Hi, everyone. Kamusta?

My website’s slogan says: to reclaim and reform myself. Let me explain why I chose the slogan.

“To reclaim…”

I have been blogging since 2007. (Damn, I felt I aged a thousand years on that one.) And there was a period in my early college life when I almost blogged daily. It became a part of my daily routine, whether I blog my thoughts and feelings on Blogspot and WordPress or on microblogging sites like Twitter (now known as X). And even if I blogged less and less later on, and the platforms have changed (hello, Tumblr and Plurk!), I never really stopped blogging at all.

But I really miss that feeling of being full of life when I write posts with more than 140 characters. So, here I am, with a new blog. I’m not sure if I will blog here more often like the good ol’ days, but I’ll try my best to make content with more than 140 characters yet still easy to read, and I will make sure it is from the heart.

That’s what I meant by “To reclaim…”

“and reform…”

As for the “and reform…” part: I’m simply trying to be better day by day. Some of those things I’d like to improve on are my web design, graphic design, and illustration skills.

I have many web designs and graphic designs that I’m proud of, but honestly, they were made ages ago. The same thing goes for illustrations. (I have a certain art style, but I feel like I can do better.) Since changing careers a few years ago and going through a tough time mentally, I want to pursue my passions again: art and design. So, relearning and improving my skills is the way to go. And when I do that and feel more confident, I will rebuild my portfolio here on this website. Stay tuned on that one!

“…myself.”

In reclaiming a part of my daily routine that makes me feel alive, and also improving myself, I’m doing all of them now while using my real name. In my early blogging days, I just used my first name, and then, I adopted a few codenames (even personas). But I never used my first name and surname. And after all I’ve been through, and finally accepting myself, that changes now.

That’s why my website’s slogan is: “To reclaim and reform myself.”

I wrote a 400-plus-word essay about a website slogan. Wow. Ang sarap talaga ng tsaa, nakaka-inspire lalo magsulat.
